Day T-01 - Final packing and prep

Yesterday, Rob washed the trailer and weighed all of the cargo. We have 192 pounds, which is a comfortable weight, plus the 200+ pound trailer itself. Since we plan to hike on this trip we are taking more cargo for that: hiking boots and shoes, hiking poles and camelpaks, and Michele’s bag of hiking clothes. Since we also plan to picnic in remote places, we have our folding chairs and table, a new battery operated fan to keep bugs away, a bug lantern, and picnic blanket. Last night Rob loaded up the trailer to make sure it all fit and it does. He left everything in the trailer except for a few essentials to make our departure an easy one.

Today we’ve been doing final prep around the house. Michele weeded the garden this morning to be able to put the yard bags out for pickup tomorrow, and vacuumed the house. She also made a batch of breakfast burritos to use up eggs and produce. Rob washed both cars so they are clean when we get back.

Weather looks to be hot all week as we make our way to cooler elevation in New Mexico.

Our planned departure Monday morning is 7:30am.
